The Lions Need Cooper DeJean AND They Need Him at Corner!

The Lions Need Cooper DeJean AND They Need Him at Corner!
They're getting paid because sacks sell tickets. And they are projecting what they will be this year, but what they have done. How could you have a# 1 run stop line not be in the top 5? You have pass rush and run stop. If you are the best in one of those, plus got the best line coach, plus Hutch, you guys are only thinking sacs and in the past. That's the the most important thing, but it does sell tickets
Reading comments, fand need to understand a few things. 1. Betts is NOT a threat to Davenport. He is NOT a RDE. He is a threat to Houston at the JACK LB spot. Simply glancing at the depth chart would help people understand how they intend to deploy these guys. 2. Davenport is about the closest thing you can get to a RDE that isn’t Montez Sweat. Thats a suitable player at the non rush side of your line. He will only help improve contain, where he grades close to elite. Thats more a run game thing. He will rush the QB when they send 4+, but it’s not his job. Thats not how this defense operates. 3. DT is built the way superb rotations are. In the past, fans wanted elite DTs at all costs. Instead the team now has 5 or 6 guys who can rotate in, stay fresh and stonewall the run or rush the passer. This regime has told you they’re doing it this way and some fans absolutely hate it. It’s literally the first time in 4-5 decades they’re not wasting picks up front each season. And they’re winning. That should tell you something.
Reader was a huge addition but its all about staying healthy an im not sure Davenport will even be a factor hopefully betts can be the answer
Finally, the voice of reason. The D-Line would have to prove it with the addition of the free agents if they can get healthy.
I just want the P.O.D.cast back. 😢
I agree with Ryan. We are not a top 5 unit. Maybe top ten but the productivity needs to be there. On paper we have dudes but pump the brakes on being number 4.
All right I'm about to turn it off the raiders man come on Go Lions
How is it that you guys do not believe this defensive line is top five Hutchinson reader McNeil I mean that's three stars right there how many people play defensive line four at a time
Hutchison didn’t receive a single all pro vote. He has weeks of being stonewalled, overrunning plays, whiffing on tackles. Then he has 2 games with 6 sacks and it completely skews what he is. He needs to improve, it’s really simple. He isn’t even a top 5 DE in this league nor is he currently a threat to enter the conversation.
If the top criteria for D-line is stopping the run. The Lions certainly get a lot of points in that regard. Hutch, Reader, McNeil, ? That 4th spot has a lot of potential from Houston, Pascal, etc. especially with our LB room as deep as it is and the secondary seemingly a weapon now. Pass rush was a little lacking last year as Hutch had little help in that regard and that’s where it would be nice to see the most improvement. Overall I can see how you might say 4th. It gives guys a lot more respect than I would’ve expected from sources not familiar or honed in on the lions which I’m not mad at. But I agree, this D-line has to show itself first because it’s just projection. I do think Lions in top 10 is not crazy. Top 5 is a bit of a premature flower giving but I am excited about the potential of this defense to do what it did great at last year and go a step further.
I think 4th is a very ambitious ranking. However, if Terrell Williams is as impactful as we hope for the DLine then it's possible IMO. The Lions have many young players up front that hopefully take a jump. DJ is solid as a rock. Hutch & Alim have already shown to be very good, with the potential to be great.
I mean, isn't the simplest argument that PFF just grades run defense as fairly/very important? Like, yes, the Lions lack on pass rushers behind Hutch, but they will probably be the best run-stopping outfit in the league this year (they were right there last year, then added Reader). That seems like a top-5 case.
To Ryan's point, the Lion's run defense did put teams in a lot of 3rd and long, it was just tough bc the secondary couldn't lock them down after they got to that point. Iirc, there were alot of 3rd down and long conversions. Hopefully the new secondary fixes that this year
My concern if Davenport and Paschal can stays healthy.. Can James Houston and Comiskey replicate their 2022 season? We don’t know if Betts and Onwuzurike will make the roster
Raiders lol
Do you guys think Rodgers is a horrible person because he refused to be a government lab rat? Or just his general douchebaggery?
I think ranking them 4th best is insane. But I also think you guys under rate Hutch. And I'm a guy who thought Hutch was a reach when we drafted him. If Reader and Davenport can be better than Jones and Harris, Hutch will have a huge year.
Morgan I said last year if Chicago got an oline they would be dangerous last year But they failed and people don’t want to see it
O my goodness JG is just sittin and a grinnin lol He gets to play behind an ELITE Line lol
Do we need a Jefferson think about it start wide receivers do we need we have laporta we got Brown Gibbs Montgomery we have enough weapons go lions 💪
What do we have besides that Raymond
Lol this offense is elite brother Nothing more is “needed” We good yall
Fields may break out this year
Yay! Ryan's here
Decker is underrated. After getting his ankle/foot taken care of I expect a great season.
Meko , good for you being there for your daughters at an important event.
Second!!!
Frist!
I will remind you Kalif Raymond was an All-Pro two years ago. That's not by accident.
DPJ. Raymond is battling TreQuan Smith for WR4 imo
DPJ
Come on. This is a BS question you guys really have run out of shit to talk about. DPJ will be wr3, take most of the abuse, and Raymond will be for them what he always has. A dangerous change of pace weapon, valuable also on special teams, and our general swiss army knife for explosive plays. They will both get plenty of snaps, but Khalif should not take too much abuse. He is not built for it, but he IS built for running in the open field, and they will try to put him there. DPJ gets the tough calls.
Kalif actually does a lot of the dirty work in this offense in terms of blocking, making tough catches, etc. I think you’re judging him by his size instead of going off what his tape says.
@@mcannon313 Thanks for the note, but I disregard everything you just said. Why do you think he does not play more on offense? He already has a big load on special teams. They also do not want him taking "every down" abuse, he is not big enough to last the whole season with a big work load. I think YOU are thinking that you know more bout this than I do. Thanks for playing, but you lost.
Just imagine that these guys are able to stay relatively injury free. And they are still Lions when they reach their physically prime years.Could be scary for the rest of the NFL..
Khalif gone work dpj gotta show me he ready
K. Raymond. Then spread the ball around just like last year. Nothing changes except the player, and the year. LETS GET THAT LOMBARDI TROPHY Y'ALL!!!😮
Jamo Alim and Davenport will have break out year. Davenport has been cut on so much lately especially by Vikings fans. Great job guy’s
I forgot about Levi.
Either playing for a 1st down or RED ZONE offense then DPJ is the man who wins a jump ball throw for field position & TDs. You guys do NOT mention the height advantage for DPJ! Open field route running for speed may give Kahlif an advantage yet does the Lions offense improve with a shorter shifty receiver? Why are guys talking Jamo & LaPorta & Vaki? Why are you guys NOT talking any DPJ positive aspects in his game? Do you guys even know DPJ? Can you stay on Topic? ?????? DPJ was recruited at MICHIGAN by which head coach? Harbaugh? And why? DPJ caught the eye of our GM & head coach? YOU GUYS DO UNDERSELL DPJ! BLOCKER ONLY????? POOR REPORTING BAD CHAT
Hey, it's ZZ Top. 😂
This a non relevant topic!
My thoughts also.
Jamo Kalif and DPJ will make up as a group also with Gibbs adding in on routes 💪🏾🏈
I’m excited to see what DPJ can do but love the difference between he & Kalif
i havent seen him play much but i have hopes for green to make an impact this year.
I love Kalif but he is so small. I hope DPJ can step up. It most likely will be filled by both of them depending on the situation.
They can play them both the size Doesn’t matter Kalif gets open
Why do these projections always assume there will be no injuries? DPJ is a phenomenal depth piece beyond your scenarios. His size also can be used to take advantage of match ups with certain other teams. Ben Johnson is no dummy, he knows what he has.
Yes! Injuries will create opportunity
So levi is nick fairley ish?
Raymond has been with lions longer he knows the offense but dpj has his opportunity he big can catch and is tough hope we can see in July training and august exhibition.
I think it's gonna depend on who we're playing and also if DPJ and Goff can get on the same page.
Not thinking Mitchell is going to be there guys!!!He’s been running like he has cement in his shoes!
I think you sell DPJ he has done well when he has had a good QB throwing to him! Far more effective than Leif when he was in Cleveland!!!
Raymond was paid, follow the money. DPJ/Green/Whoever fights for WR4 ends up being option five or six in the offense. Also, some fans need to mentally prepare that some "names" we are used to seeing at the bottom of the roster fight for roster spots and they may not make it. Bad teams are going to poach unprotected practice squad players off the Lions.
I believe that the WR3 spot will be mostly a rotation among Kalif, DPJ, and Green. At this point in time I think that Kalif deserves to be the first choice among those guys. Note: PFF named Kalif as the best WR in the NFL for getting open on his targets.
Raymond only started in 21 when we had little talent. Otherwise he's been a spot starter, depth or a special teamer. I think DPJ will start out of training camp, but we'll see what happens.
